Sick

We had a family birthday party for my son recently, and at least one person there had a cold.  He didn’t mention it to me, but he shook my hand, was giving out hugs, etc.

This person knows we just got better from a awful flu-like virus about a week ago.

What were they thinking?  It just isn’t that important to go to a party.  We’re going to get sick.  It’s almost Christmas.  We’re supposed to host Christmas Eve.  It just snowed and if I feel sick in the morning I’m going to be pissed.

People need to not go out of the house, including for work when they are sick.  It is the only thing that makes sense.  As a country we’d save billions in productivity gains from such a simple, common-sense move.  Employers are partly to blame though for not having a sane sick policy in most cases.  In cold climates, you’re going to be sick and contagious for a week at a time up to several times a year and they just don’t allow for that.
